Carlsbad, CA – Army and Navy Academy is proud to announce that Cadet Landon Schrom, a junior, has been offered the opportunity to continue his education and athletic career at Cornell University. This prestigious offer marks a significant milestone in Landon’s journey as he becomes an Academy standout student-athlete recognized at the national level.
Following the offer from Cornell over the weekend, Landon has also been contacted by Columbia University, Dartmouth, the University of Idaho, and Northern Arizona University to visit their campuses this spring.
A dedicated and talented athlete, Landon has been a Warrior since eighth grade. He plays both wide receiver and linebacker for the Academy’s football team and has consistently demonstrated excellence on and off the field. He carries an impressive 3.9+ GPA and was named Wide Receiver First Team All-League in the 2024 Coastal League. He also won the 100-meter title in the 2024 Coastal Conference Track & Field Championships, further showcasing his elite athletic ability.
College recruiters have taken notice of Landon’s standout performance during the 2024 football season, where he recorded:
50 receptions, 959 yards and 12 touchdowns
70 tackles and 5 interceptions
Coach Nehemiah Brunson, Army and Navy Academy’s Head Football Coach and Athletic Director praised Landon’s dedication, stating, “Landon has shown a true commitment to his craft athletically and academically over the past six and a half years, and it’s a pleasure to see the rewards of his hard work. To receive such an opportunity as a junior speaks volumes about his talent, character, and the effort he has put in day after day. We know that he will continue to excel at the next level.”
Landon shared, “As a kid, if you asked me where or if I’d ever receive a D1 offer, especially to a prestigious school like Cornell University I would’ve said No, not because of my athletic ability but because I was struggling with so much academically and personally that my future wasn’t in focus. That’s what brought me to ANA and allowed me a fresh start and a new beginning. I want to thank Athletic Director Brunson, Coach KB, teachers, teammates, and especially my parents for sacrificing so much for me to be at a place like ANA. Last but not least, thank you to the Cornell coaching staff and the University for realizing that there is talent at small schools and I can’t wait to see my teammates afforded the same opportunities wherever that may be.”
Landon’s journey is a testament to the Academy’s mission of developing young men of character, leadership, and perseverance. As he continues to weigh his collegiate options, the entire Warrior community is proud to celebrate his success and excited to see what the future holds.
