Christopher Earl Lowe passed away peacefully at 7:04am at UC San Diego Medical Center on March 3, 2025, at age 84. Chris was born December 9, 1940, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Adonna Francis (Finch) and Floyd Paul Lowe. The third of five siblings, including older brothers Jan (4/15/36-7/23/96) and Alan (who survives him) and younger twin sisters Carol(Pugh)(12/14/42-4/26/07) and Claudia(Scott), (who survives him). He grew up across the country and world, including spending several early years with his family outside Sao Paulo, Brazil, where his father taught English for a time, but mostly in or around San Diego, California–where he grew to love the beach and sunshine Southern California offers. Out of high school he received a track scholarship to BYU in Provo, UT, where he met and married Katherine Marie Allen (who survives him) in 1964. Together they have three surviving children, David Lowe (wife Sherry), Jennifer Taylor (husband Brandon), and Michael Lowe (wife DeAnna), 14 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. While he had various jobs teaching, managing companies and even farming (although he was never a farmer), and was able to provide for his family as they lived in California, Meridian, Idaho and Sunnyside, Washington, Chris loved to travel the world. There are very few, if any, countries Chris did not visit in his life. He went on more than 40 cruises, including a cruise around the world for nearly 100 days. He loved most Asia and South America, spending many months each year in those areas of the world. He also loved driving and would routinely travel to visit family. When not traveling, he spent his last years back in sunny Southern California where he grew up, walking, riding his bike, swimming, playing online chess with people from all over the world, spending times with neighborhood friends and eating at his favorite restaurant, Texas Roadhouse, near his home in San Marcos. Now he moves on to his next adventure. Dad–we love and will miss you, but look forward to the time we meet again. Bon Voyage!
