On Sunday, March 9, 2025, at approximately 6:01 p.m. deputies with the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred in the 100 block of Jupiter Street, in the City of Encinitas.
Preliminary information indicates that a white sedan, driven by an 84-year-old male, struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The 60-year-old male pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver remained on scene and was uninjured following the collision.
The cause of the crash is currently still under investigation by North Coastal Station Traffic Investigators and the Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team.
It is unknown if the use of alcohol or drugs is a factor in this ongoing investigation.

Colisión de Tráfico Fatal – Encinitas
Se está investigando una colisión de tráfico fatal.
El domingo 9 de marzo de 2025, aproximadamente a las 6:01 p.m., los agentes de la Estación del Sheriff de la Costa Norte respondieron a un informe de una colisión entre un vehículo y un peatón que ocurrió en la cuadra 100 de la calle Júpiter, en la ciudad de Encinitas.
La información preliminar indica que un sedán blanco, conducido por un hombre de 84 años, atropelló a un peatón en la carretera. El peatón de 60 años fue transportado en ambulancia a un hospital cercano donde sucumbió a sus heridas. El conductor permaneció en la escena y resultó ileso después de la colisión.
La causa del accidente todavía está bajo investigación por parte de los investigadores de tráfico de North Coastal Station y el Equipo de Reconstrucción de Accidentes de Tráfico del Sheriff.
Se desconoce si el uso de alcohol o drogas es un factor en esta investigación en curso.
