ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE:
On January 12, 2025, at 2:05 am, officers located a 34-year-old male gunshot victim at the intersection of College Boulevard & Olive Drive. Tragically, the victim was pronounced
deceased at the scene.
Detectives from the Crimes of Violence Unit are actively investigating this incident. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

UPDATE:
On January 16, 2025, the Oceanside Police Department arrested Pele Fuifui (51) for the murder of Justin Bazan (34). Fuifui was taken into custody without incident in Placentia. The arrest is the result of a thorough investigation conducted by Oceanside Police Department detectives. The incident appears to have stemmed from a road rage incident. Fuifui was booked into the Vista Detention Facility for murder. The investigation remains active.
In 2019, Fuifui was paroled after serving 23 years in prison for a San Diego murder. Photo attached of Fuifui at the time of arrest.
