The Oceanside Unified School District is pleased to announce its receipt of $97,467 through the Border Region Talent Pipeline K-16 Collaborative Grant. This funding will significantly enhance OUSD’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, preparing students for high-demand careers in biotechnology.

With this grant, OUSD will implement several initiatives to benefit both students and educators. Career panels and organization tours will provide valuable industry exposure, helping students gain insight into potential career paths. Additionally, four OUSD teachers will receive certification as evaluators of biotechnology microcredentials. This certification will enable them to assess and certify students in industry-vetted microcredentials while they are still in high school.

These microcredentials are designed to meet the standards of the biotechnology industry, ensuring that students are workforce-ready upon graduation. By earning these credentials, students will have a competitive edge for securing well-paying jobs in the rapidly growing field of biotechnology.

“This grant allows us to expand opportunities for our students and provide them with the skills and certifications needed to succeed in today’s job market,” said Dr. Julie Vitale, OUSD’s Superintendent. “We are committed to equipping our students with tools for success, and this funding is a tremendous step forward.”

The Oceanside Unified School District remains dedicated to fostering career readiness and strengthening connections between education and industry. This grant represents a continued investment in the future of its students and the local workforce.
