Surfside High School Recognized as a 2025 Model Continuation High School

OCEANSIDE, CA — Surfside High School has been named a 2025 Model Continuation High School (MCHS) by the California Department of Education. This prestigious recognition highlights Surfside’s commitment to providing at-risk students with innovative academic programs, flexible scheduling, and comprehensive support services that prepare them for future success.

“We are incredibly proud of Surfside High School for earning this distinction,” said Dr. Julie Vitale, OUSD Superintendent. “This honor reflects the dedication of our educators in creating a supportive learning environment that empowers students to achieve their goals.”

Surfside High School is one of two in the county and 74 in the state to receive this designation. With a student-centered approach, the school focuses on academic achievement, social-emotional support, and pathways to higher education and career readiness.

This recognition also celebrates the legacy of Surfside principal Eric Frandsen, whose dedication and leadership have made a profound impact on the school’s students, staff, and community.
